Advancing Clinical Informatics for Military Healthcare

Service Area: Clinical Informatics

Client: Air Force Medical Readiness Agency (AFMRA) Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO)

Role: Prime Contractor (Transitioned to Subcontractor for 5-Year Extension)

The Challenge

Modern healthcare relies on the seamless flow of accurate patient data. When the Air Force Medical Service began transitioning to the new MHS Genesis electronic health record system, leaders faced a massive clinical informatics challenge. They needed to ensure that this huge influx of new technology actually helped doctors and nurses make better patient decisions, rather than slowing them down with confusing software. The AFMRA Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) needed a trusted team of experts who understood both medicine and computer science to bridge the gap between clinical needs and complex digital tools.

Our Story

Program Management Solutions proudly stepped in to lead this informatics transformation. We knew that successful healthcare IT is about telling a clear story with data. Our team delivered comprehensive strategic, technical, and clinical informatics support directly to the agency's leadership.

"PM Solutions provides advisory, assistance, and systems integration with Cerner software(MHS Genesis) to provide strategic, technical, clinical informatics, administrative and program management across four strategic task areas."

Rather than just focusing on the computers, we focused on the people using them. Serving as enterprise subject matter experts, we guided the overall strategic goals for how clinical data should be managed.

"We provide support on the overall strategic goals for informatics and IMIT Solutions."

Our experts carefully studied how medical professionals actually work, developing detailed process workflows and mapping diagrams tailored specifically for the MHS Genesis system. Because we understand that even the best informatics systems fail if people cannot use them comfortably, we actively supported the medical staff. We organized and executed direct, peer-to-peer training for providers, whether they were working remotely or on-site at treatment facilities.

"We work with the primary divisions executing programs/applications/workflows to include: remote and on-site peer-to-peer provider support /training."

The Impact

By focusing heavily on the intersection of healthcare and data, we transformed complex computer systems into highly usable, everyday tools for military medical staff. Our clinical informatics expertise helped the CHIO completely modernize business processes and ensure that new digital applications ran smoothly across the entire Air Force Medical Service.

"Our services provide the AFMRA CHIO support that contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the AFMS Clinical application environment."

Through our continued support, we are ensuring that military healthcare providers always have the right information, at the exact right time, to deliver world-class care to our nation's service members.
